Catheter

Haley did really well this morning. She has a been there, done that attitude. She jumped on the scale so they could get her weight, then she flopped her arm out for her blood pressure, the nurse said oh you have done this before, huh? I laughed alittle, but only to keep from crying. She got to play in the playroom first. Her and I were playing with the doll house. I kept having things ring the door bell and ask if this is where the party is? Things like animals, chairs, tvs, tables, and any other things that would fit in the doll house. I thought it was hilarious, she just played like it was normal for a chair to be coming to a party. She walked back there with the nurse just as awesome as always.

About an hour after she went back, the nurse called us to let us know Haley was doing great. She went back and cooperated very well. The nurse said she attributed that to us as parents, because we were not nervous and Haley could see that. Phew....we hide it well. hahaha. So that was nice to hear.

We talked to the doctor before she went back. He said the procedure is going to run about the same, except this time they will run a cath up her right leg that will punture the atrial septum ( the dividing between the top two chambers of her heart) and leave that in there to measure the saturation of oxygen in her blood coming out of her lungs. Then go in the left leg and do all the pressure tests. We have always assumed the blood coming in from her lungs is fully saturated. So we will see. This may change nothing, alittle bit or a whole lot. who knows. The doctor said it would only add about 15 min on to the normal time, which we remember being 2.5 to 3 hours. She went back at 8:45. It is now 12:45.......

We are staying here tonight. I dont know why they always tell us we will go home and we tell them ok, we will bring an overnight bag. Either way I dont mind. It is actually easier if we stay because they keep her asleep all day and she stays up all night. At least here she is pretty much confined to her bed and they have amazing nurses. Last time I would wake up and Haley would be hanging out with the nurse. At home she would be wondering our house alone...hahaha Im kidding.

shes out............

Ok she did well. I dont know why it took so long. She is breathing well. They took her off the sleep meds.....they always end up putting her back on because she is 6 and cannot lay flat for 6 hours..... we will see. Once we got up here there was some confusion whether we are staying or not, so that is still up in the air. We are prepared either way. Her cardiologist came in to talk with us. He basically said he has to still go through all the data from today and figure it out. Preliminarily, he said things look about the same. We all agree this is a pivital point in the journey. Now some decisions need to be made. He is going call us when he is done sorting and figuring all the numbers. He will email me, so I can stare at it like I know what it says. hahaha actually Im pretty good at reading medical stuff about Haley now.....and understanding it. We will meet with him to go over it and figure out what our options are, he will also be sending out the info to Denver and Stanford for their input. We just need wisdom to know what to do next.

I will update as soon as I get important info.
